DRI Transit Bus Tracking Introduction
Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG)’s Traffic and Transportation Department’s Transit Division, Lafayette Transit System (LTS), is pleased to announce to the public that any internet based user anywhere in the world can now connect via a browser and the Internet and see the real-time location of currently running LTS transit buses. The buses show up as Icon placards that show the Route ID, Bus ID and last update time associated with that bus. Underlying the bus icons are the Lafayette City streets lines, LTS bus routes lines, City boundaries and labeled Landmarks that help put into perspective a buses location along a route.
Users will have the ability to go to this site during normal LTS daytime service hours and:
- Pan (hold down the left mouse button and drag) and
- Zoom (use the scale menu) to find a Bus of interest.
- Enter a Bus ID or Route ID into the appropriate text boxes and allow the software to - show you the Bus of interest.
- Set alarm notification for bus arrival along various routes.
Once the Bus of interest is located you can watch the Bus move along its route to help judge when the Bus will arrive at a given Bus Stop.
The map presentation is made using an Internet mapping product called OtVia. OtVia is Java based. The first time you launch the OtVia map you may need to install the Sun Systems Java components. If no map appears, please do follow the onscreen instructions and install Java. You will only be required to perform this Java download and install once from any PC.
